The benefits of mediation

A fresh pair of eyes and ears can help kick start the necessary conversations where communication has previously broken down.

We create an open environment that gives everyone the opportunity to have their say. By allowing people to negotiate they are able to move from a stuck position and begin to settle their long standing issues.

Mediation is a recognised alternative for dispute resolution, less formal than court proceedings, and proven to be effective for addressing a wide range of issues and complexities.

The whole process is:

“Don’t be afraid to have certain conversations. It’s better to talk and find out, than keep going and get nowhere.
Communication is key”

Frequently Asked Questions About Mediation

Mediation provides a cost effective, confidential and speedy way to resolve conflict and disputes. Mediators are impartial, do not judge who is right or wrong, nor do they offer advice. A mediator brings together the people in dispute, to enable open conversations, explore options and ultimately help the parties reach a fair agreement on how to move forward.
Azur Mediation offers face to face mediations thoughout the UK or virtually using an online meeting such as Zoom.

This depends on the type of mediation and its complexity. Please use the following as a guide.

Civil and Commercial mediations – We ask all parties to allow a full day for negotiations and agreements to be documented.

Community mediations – 1 hour for each preliminary fact finding meeting and a further 2 hours for the joint mediation meeting.

Workplace – The mediation process is supported by pre and post meetings with each of the employees, typically taking 1 to 2 hours.

We ask employees to allow a further 3 to 4 hours for the joint meeting.

In all cases, once agreement is reached and documented, the meeting will be concluded.

It is recommended that all parties meet to get to a resolution. In some cases the mediator may be able to meet the parties separately to get to an agreement. This is more likely in civil and commercial mediation.

This very much depends on the type of mediation and its complexities. Please get in touch to discuss your dispute and obtain a quote. Remember, mediation is often quicker and more cost effective than using a solicitor and taking the case to court.

For Commercial, Civil and Community mediations, the costs are usually split 50/50 between the parties involved.

For Workplace mediation, the employer usually covers the whole costs of the mediation meetings.
